Water seeps through the limestone roof of Deer Cave and falls 122m to the cave floor. Back-lit by the main entrance, where the famous bat exodus occurs nightly, the waterfalls give a surreal feel to an already otherworldly place.
A tip from an American couple
I met in Golden Bay led us to Nelson to catch the final day of their
yearly jazz festival. It was with their glowing recommendation that we
