Ramadan Splash

Ramadan is the Islamic month of fasting, which means no food or drink between sunrise and sunset. The dates for Ramadan shift every year by about 11 days, depending on the lunar calendar rather than the solar calendar. This year, Ramadan was right in the middle of summer.

Once a prosperous port town, Tokomaru Bay is now a quiet little beach community. Old buildings used in the port days are now just brittle brick walls, the forest slowly taking the land back. Tokomaru Bay sits on the east coast of New Zealand.
